PROCLAIM Documentary

Newcastle Film Club produced a series of educational videos about the PROCLAIM programme which is supporting all schools in Middlesbrough to be attachment aware and trauma informed by 2025 so everyone can enjoy, achieve and thrive in school.

The Brief

Victoria Banks approached us about wanting to make a documentary film to showcase the work PROCLAIM has done to date in order to encourage more schools to sign up for their programme.

But she didn't want the typical corporate style video...

The Production Process

Newcastle Film Club Founder / President, Samantha Castro, created a brief for the project which outlined everything that would be delivered.
After onboarding the director and NFC member, Michelle Bayly, we scheduled a 1 day session with the client to work through the outline for the documentary - Who would we talk to? What was the messaging for each video? What's the journey we want our audience to take? etc.

During this time we had to wrap our heads around the subject of Attachment Aware & Trauma Informed Practices in order to better craft the film.
We spent 3 days filming with a full crew in Middlesbrough, moving to multiple locations during the day in order to capture everything we needed for the films.
After filming we spent 10 days editing the films together, giving the client time to review and give feedback on the edits as they were completed.

The Film Premiere

The 20 minute documentary film premiered at the official PROCLAIM launch event held at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium on June 30, 2023 with a great response from those in attendance.
The plans for the film now is for it to do a festival run alongside being part of the main marketing material for PROCLAIM to use when doing it's presentations to schools, community groups, and online website.

'I just want to pass on my thanks to the whole team... They did an amazing job and I showed the film today with pride.'
